During the autumn semester, 15 women from Højvangen in Skanderborg have gathered in Højvangen for Danish lessons adapted to their individual needs. What they have in common is that they have gone to the classes with great energy and many ideas, so there have been many topics on the program. They have read articles and discussed socially relevant topics such as extreme weather, child-rearing and gender equality. They have worked with health, cooking and recipes, and in the run-up to Christmas, Lucia and other Christmas traditions have been at the center.
The project has come about on the basis of a collaboration between Charlotte Strandgaard, who is the head of the social housing master plan in Skanderborg, and Sprogcenter Midt. The master plan stands for important efforts to strengthen active and local citizenship, and here we can work together to increase the citizens’ Danish-language skills.
