    In the heart of Horsens

    Our department in Horsens is in the heart of the city, only 200 meters from the train and bus station and just opposite Campus Horsens.

    We are located in a charming, historic building which was once Horsens’ largest factory and home to Denmark’s largest television manufacturer. The factory closed in 1979, and the building was renovated to house a modern educational institution with attractive facilities and the latest teaching technology.

    In our lobby on the second floor, you will experience a cosy and informal environment. You will be welcomed with a warm smile in our reception which is located side by side with the offices of our student counsellors. They will help you sign up for the right course and get started. We have ongoing admissions so you can start when it suits you.

    We emphazise that you learn the Danish you need in your daily life, and that you become part of our welcoming social community.

    Courses

    There is always something going on at the department in Horsens, as we have courses during the day, in the evening and on Saturdays.

    Our teaching hours:

    Daytime 8:15-14:30 or 9:00-15:00
    Evening 17:00-19:50 (FVU 17:00-20:15)
    Saturday 9:00-13:15

    We offer

    In Horsens, we offer Danish lessons on all Danish courses (DU1, DU2 and DU3) during daytime, evenings and Saturdays. We also offer FVU Danish, FVU mathematics, and FVU digital.

    VIA students in Horsens

    We know that the Danish language opens doors to pursuing a career in Denmark, and we make it possible for you to learn Danish while you focus on your studies.

    In collaboration with VIA, we offer Danish lessons to all international VIA students in Horsens allowing you to learn Danish to the level you need at work and in your free time.

    We specialise in teaching Danish to international students at universities and to other highly educated professionals.

    Beginners classes for VIA students

    Learn Danish with fellow VIA students in our Combi classes exclusively for VIA students.

    With our blended Combi courses, you get a fine combination of classroom teaching, online tutorials with self-studies and individual feedback from your teacher.

    Our Combi courses are flexible so you can learn Danish while at the same time you take care of your studies and spare time job.

    Our Combi classes are for module 1 only.

    • About Combi courses

      In our Combi courses, you attend 3 lessons of in-class teaching once a week and have 3 lessons of online tutorials during the week, when and where it suits you. Online self-study is necessary to be able to keep up with in-class teaching. Our ambitious and professional teachers meet your language needs through frequent feedback, in in-class teaching as well as in online tutorials.

      In in-class teaching, you can:

      • Learn new language through fun and engaging methods
      • Train your oral skills and get feedback on pronunciation
      • Meet, collaborate with and share ideas with other VIA students at the same level as yourself

      In online tutorials you can:

      • See your lesson plan, instructional videos and assignments for each lesson
      • Upload the week’s assignment and get individual feedback from your teacher
      • Access a large selection of additional material and relevant links

      Before you can start, you must take an interview with our counsellor. After your registration, we will send you an invitation for the interview per sms.

      • Sign up for the course that suits you. You must pay a deposit of DKK 2,000 upon registration. You will get your deposit back if you pass your module within the specified time frames. Read about the deposit here.
      • You must download our educational apps. We will send you your personal login to our digital learning platform and teaching apps a few days before you start.

    Evening and Saturday classes

    Learn Danish with our ordinary evening or Saturday classes. Join one of our classes and meet learners at the same level as you. You learn Danish, and you might get a strong network.

    Evening and Saturday classes are in-class, respectively twice and once a week.

    You can choose between:

    • Evening classes: Tuesday and Thursday, 17.00-19.50
    • Saturday classes: Saturday, 9.00-13.15

    With continuous admission, so you can start whenever it suits you.

    • About evening and Saturday classes

      Our courses will give you language skills and an understanding of Danish culture, which will help you in your communication with Danes. It strengthens you in your daily life and in your career in Denmark.

      • You learn Danish through interactive and dynamic teaching, where you practice conversation in groups or in pairs, through discussion and in role plays

      • You gain an in-depth understanding of the Danish language through instructions, exercises and individual feedback

      • You develop your skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing, while also learning about Danish culture and Danish society

      • You can hand in your written work digitally and get feedback on our digital learning platform. Here you can also access all teaching material, extra exercises, links and audio files, so you can improve your skills through self-studies at the same time.

    We have many volunteers contributing to our department in Horsens. They are always ready to help you practise your oral Danish skills by having one-on-one conversations with you.

    Depending on your level, you talk to a volunteer about Danish culture and society, everyday life and other topics that interest you both.
