Our department in Herning is located in herningCentret, where we have our own entrance right next to the main entrance. The pulsating atmosphere of herningCentret extends to our premises, but you will also find a tranquillity that allows for immersion and learning.

When you enter our cosy and inviting lounge, which holds our reception and library, you will meet a well-equipped modern educational institution with attractive rooms and the latest teaching technology.

Your student counsellor will help you sign up for the right course and get started. We have ongoing admissions so you can start when it suits you. We emphasize that you learn the Danish you need in your daily life, and that you become part of our welcoming social community.

We offer

In Herning, we offer Danish lessons on all Danish courses (DU1, DU2 and DU3) day and evening. We also offer FVU Danish and FVU mathematics.

VIA Herning

We know that the Danish language opens doors to pursuing a career in Denmark, and we make it possible for you to learn Danish while you focus on your studies.

In collaboration with VIA, we offer Danish lessons to all international VIA students in Herning allowing you to learn Danish to the level you need at work and in your free time.

We specialise in teaching Danish to international students at universities and to other highly educated professionals.

Beginners classes at VIA Campus

We offer beginners classes exclusively for international VIA students at VIA campus

Learn Danish to the level you need at your study, your job and in your leisure time.

  • In our VIA courses, you attend 3 lessons of in-class teaching once a week. Our ambitious and professional teachers meet your language needs through frequent feedback.

    In the course you can:

    • Learn new language through fun and engaging methods
    • Train your oral skills and get feedback on pronunciation
    • Meet, collaborate with and share ideas with fellow VIA students at the same level as yourself

At Sprogcenter Midt, classes will be in-class tuition twice a week
– With continuous admission, so you can start whenever it suits you

Join one of our evening classes and meet learners at the same level as you. You learn Danish and you might get a strong network.

Evening classes are

  • Monday and Wednesday, 17.00-19.30 or
  • Tuesday and Thursday, 17.00-19.30

Location: Sprogcenter Midt, herningCentret, Merkurvej 1c, Herning

  • Our courses will give you language skills and an understanding of Danish culture, which will help you in your communication with Danes. It strengthens you in your daily life and in your career in Denmark.

    • You learn Danish through interactive and dynamic teaching, where you practice conversation in groups or in pairs, through discussion and in role plays

    • You gain an in-depth understanding of the Danish language through instructions, exercises and individual feedback

    • You develop your skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing, while also learning about Danish culture and Danish society

    • You can hand in your written work digitally and get feedback on our digital learning platform. Here you can also access all teaching material, extra exercises, links and audio files, so you can improve your skills through self-studies at the same time.

Voluntary conversation partner

We have many volunteers contributing to our department in Herning. They are always ready to help you practise your oral Danish skills.

Depending on your level, you talk to a volunteer about Danish culture and society, everyday life and other topics that interest you both.

You can also get help with practical tasks.

Taldansk Café

You can practise your oral Danish skills in the Taldansk Café

  • Monday at 11:15-12:45
  • Wednesday at 11:30-13:30

The Taldansk Café is held in collaboration with the Danish Refugee Council.

Practical help

Every Wednesday from 11:30-13:30, the Red Cross offers assistance to refugees with applying for family reunification and passports, extension of residence permits and passports, permanent residence, and citizenship.

We can also offer help with reading and understanding other communications from public authorities. It is important that the refugees can speak and understand Danish or English. They are, of course, welcome to bring their own interpreter.
