Our pedagogical values

At Sprogcenter Midt, you meet committed and dynamic teachers who organise their teaching on a set of common pedagogical values.

Our teachers adjust the teaching to your level, your goals and the methods by which you learn Danish the best. At the same time, the teachers create a meaningful and engaging classroom for you to learn Danish together with others.  Thus, you meet and learn together with other students whose goals and level correspond to yours.

Our pedagogical values take the point of departure that you are at the centre of your Danish learning process. We introduce you to Danish language that you must independently practice and apply in your everyday life to be able to both remember and benefit from it. You take responsibility for your learning process, and we support you in achieving your goals.

Teaching is dynamic with pair and group work, project work, role play, and exercises that require immersion and concentration. We invite you to express your opinion about the teaching and expect you to contribute with suggestions and ideas for your own and the group’s learning.

You will get frequent feedback so you know how to improve and when you have completed a task or achieved a goal. You get both oral and written feedback, and you are also welcome to ask for feedback.

Digital tools and IT

With our digital learning platform, you can take responsibility for your own goals.

We use IT to support communication between you and your teacher. Our digital learning platform is Microsoft Teams.

You will be using the tools in Teams to practise both oral and written skills as the teacher organises dynamic and differentiated activities based on your needs and everyday life. Sometimes there are also common tasks where you and the other participants in the course can comment on each others’ assignments and inspire or chat with one another.

Before the first class, you will receive your personal login, giving you access to Teams. In Teams you can find your lesson plan, assignments, links to digital materials and video instructions. You can write to your teachers and the other participants in your class. Written feedback from the teacher is stored in Teams together with your previously submitted assignments.

  • Free access to digital materials

    On our teaching platform Teams, you can find lesson plans, assignments, links to digital materials and video instructions. You can download assignments, make them and re-upload them to your teacher. And you can do self-correcting tasks where you can quickly evaluate yourself.

    In our student team you can find e-books with reading comprehension tasks, listening exercises, dictations and grammar exercises. Here you will also find our school calendar. 

    On our DU1 website you can find short videos with dialogues, listening exercises and self-correcting tasks where you can practice new vocabulary.

  • The communication between you and your teacher

    With Teams, you can quickly and easily communicate with your teacher and the other participants in your team. If you receive written feedback from your teacher, it will of course be saved in Teams together with your previously submitted assignments.

  • Dynamic and differentiated teaching

    You will use the tools in Teams to train both oral and written skills when the teacher organizes dynamic and differentiated activities that are based on you and your everyday life. Sometimes there are also shared tasks where you and the other participants in the team can comment on each other’s tasks or chat with each other.

Cultural understanding

Learn about Danish society and Danish culture and values while learning Danish

With us you learn Danish for work and everyday life. This also means that you learn about Danish society, culture and values ​​while learning Danish. In teaching, we focus, for example, on:

  • Different values ​​in family life as well as in welfare society, such as equality, trust and freedom of expression. Knowledge of these helps you to succeed in Danish workplaces and educational institutions.
  • Different types of communities and networks in Denmark, which exist in working life and in private life. Knowledge of them helps you to meet Danes in associations and networks.
  • Public institutions such as kindergarten, elementary school and secondary education, health system with medical assistance and public transport. Knowledge of this strengthens your citizenship in Denmark.

The topics about Danish society, culture and values give you an understanding of the written and unwritten rules in society and in the labour market.

In this way, you not only gain language skills through Danish teaching, but also personal and social skills that increase your opportunities in Denmark.
