DU-Danish

DU-Danish divided into three different line courses: DU-Danish 1, DU-Danish 2 and DU-Danish 3. Every line course consists of 5-6 modules and each module concludes with a test. After the last module you will sit for the final exam in Danish.

You can join DU-Danish if you are entitled to Danish tuition according to Danish law and the municipality therefore commits to pay. Read more about the rules for DU-Danish.

Which DU-Danish suits you?

Our counsellor will assess which DU-Danish is right for you and which module to start on. This depends on your school background from your home country.

DU-Danish 1

DU-Danish 1 is for you who have very little or no schooling from your home country and for you who doesn’t know the Latin alphabet.

Goal

You will learn Danish at a level that enables you to work in Denmark and participate actively in Danish society. You will be able to cope with everyday situations e.g. when you do shopping, talk to the staff at school and kindergarten, go to the doctor and talk to your colleagues at work.

In this course we work mainly with the spoken language, but you will also learn to write messages, fill out forms and read simple texts.

Modules and Exam

DU-Danish 1 consists of 6 modules. Every module is completed with a test you must pass to continue with the next module. DU-Danish 1 is completed with a final exam, ‘Prøve i Dansk’.


DU-Danish 2

DU-Danish 2 is for you who have a short-cycle or medium-cycle education from your home country.

Goal

You will learn Danish at a level that enables you to work in Denmark and participate actively in Danish society. You will also be able to participate in short-cycle education and courses. In this course we work a lot with the verbal language and you will learn to speak Danish well and understand Danish in everyday life. You also learn to write and read simple texts and messages and obtain good knowledge of Denmark, Danish culture and the Danish labor market.

DU-Danish 2 consists of 6 modules. Every module is completed with a test you must pass to continue with the next module. DU-Danish 2 is completed with a final exam, ‘Prøve i Dansk’.


DU-Danish 3

DU-Danish 3 is for you who have a medium-cycle or long-cycle higher education from your home country. You also know one or more European languages well and know the grammatical terms.

Goal

This course will enable you to work in Denmark or continue your education in Denmark.

In this course we work with all the linguistic disciplines: reading, writing, speaking and listening. We also focus on pronunciation and grammar. Initially, we work with very basic topics, for example, from your everyday life. Later, we will discuss current topics, watch movies, read newspaper articles and so forth.

Modules and Exam

DU-Danish 3 consists of 5 modules. Every module is completed with a test you must pass to continue with the next module. DU-Danish 3 is completed with a final exam, ‘Prøve i Dansk’. With this exam you can apply for module 6, which is completed with the Study Exam.

Admission to module 6 depends on your grades at the DU-Danish 3 exam and the counsellor’s assessment. Once you pass the Study Exam you can be accepted at an array of educational programs in Denmark.
