Danish Summer Language Course

Improve your Danish skills and get first hand experience about Danish culture and society.

Danish summer language course is for students who study Danish/Nordic at a university or have obtained basic Danish skills otherwise.

The course is designed as a three week exchange programme
with three unique elements

Danish lessons with a strong emphasis on communicative skills, equivalent to 20 lessons per week. Read more here.

A plenitude of cultural, historical and social excursions, events and presentations serving to give students a coherent knowledge and understanding of Denmark in the past, present and future. Read more here.

After signing up, you must provide

A letter of motivation for participating in the summer language course
We will share your letter with your host family.
Please write in the letter of documentation:

  • A personal presentation of yourself.
  • Why do you want to learn Danish?
  • Which cultural, historical or social aspects of Denmark are you most interested in?
  • What are you looking forward to when participating in the summer language course?
Documentation of your Danish skills It can be course documentation or a letter from your lecturer.

The requirement is a Danish level A1 or A2 under the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR).
We recommend an English level of minimum C1.

Included in the price

  • 60 Danish lessons, including teaching materials and access to our study center.
  • Cultural, historical and social excursions, events and presentations, according to the programme. Changes in the programme may occur. Admission, fees and transportation that are part of the programme are included.
  • Half board and accommodation with a host family from 7 to 26 August.

Not included in the price
  • Meals at Sprogcenter Midt or during excursions.
  • Transportation between host families and Sprogcenter Midt.
  • Travel expenses from home country to the train or bus station in Horsens.


Cancelation of your registration

  • Before 29 April: You will be refunded 50% of your first instalment.
  • After 29 April: You will be refunded 50% of your total payment.
  • After 26 June: You will be refunded 25 % of your total payment.

Registration is open as long as there are available places.

Practical information

Arrival in Horsens: 7 August, 2022. Host families will meet students at the train or bus station by agreement.

The course starts at 8:30am on 8 August at Sprogcenter Midt, Emil Møllers Gade 30, 8700 Horsens.

The course ends at 2pm on 26 August at Sprogcenter Midt, Emil Møllers Gade 30, 8700 Horsens.  

Departure: Students will leave their host families on Friday 26 or Saturday 27 August.
