Learn Danish when you are in Denmark

  • to study or work
  • as an accompanying spouse
  • through family reunification based on EU rules
  • as an au pair

You must be over 18 years old and have a Danish CPR number.

As newly arrived in Denmark, you will receive a letter from the municipality within the first month of your registration. The letter explains your right to Danish education.

It is important that your contact the language school within 30 days of receiving the letter from the municipality.


If you WISH to start Danish classes now

Contact our office to book an interview with our counsellor. You must bring the letter from the municipality to the interview.


If you DO NOT wish to start Danish classes now

You should postpone your start of Danish education.

Go to Self Service and send your request to postpone start. If you do not postpone your start, you will lose some of your right to attend Danish classes.
